To celebrate finishing the revs....

Salem and Books
I'm stealing a book mem from [info]melissawyatt. Hey, does that make me a book mem thief? Sorry, I'm reading that now, couldn't resist!

1. Hardcover or paperback, and why?

I actually don't mind. I prefer hardbacks if I'm getting books signed, and I'm slowly collecting hardbacks of all my favorites, but the media doesn't really matter to me. I also like ebooks, mainly because I can carry 500 in my palm pilot and always have something to read

2. If I were to own a book shop I would call it…

Hm.... Not sure. Something with food and books, though, as the fiance has always wanted to open a restaurant, so we'd decided that if that ever happens it will be books and food in some manner. Maybe Bread and Books? Cakes and Characters?

3. My favorite quote from a book (mention the title) is…

"It is a burden. Make no mistake of that. Any great gift of power or talent is a burden, and this more than any, and you will often long to be free of it. But there is nothing to be done. If you were born with the gift, then you must serve the gift, and nothing in this world or out of it may stand in the way of that service, because that is why you were born and that is the Law." --The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper

"You know -- pansy for thoughtfulness, yew for sorrow, bay for glory, dock for tomorrow? Roses are for love. Not forget-me-not, honeysuckle, silly sweethearts' love but the love that makes you and keeps you whole, love that gets you through the worst your life'll give you and that pours out of you when you've given the best instead." --Rose Daughter by Robin McKinley

4. The author (alive or deceased) I would love to have lunch with would be ….

Lloyd Alexander

5. If I was going to a deserted island and could only bring one book, except from the SAS survival guide, it would be…

The Last Unicorn

6. I would love someone to invent a bookish gadget that….

Would allow Palm e-reader to handle more than 500 books. If you have more than that, it won't see any of them. :(

7. The smell of an old book reminds me of….

Spices and autumn leaves

8. If I could be the lead character in a book (mention the title), it would be….

Eilonwy from the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. I've always loved her.

9. The most overestimated book of all times is….

His Dark Materials. It's ok, but I just don't get the love. I really liked the first one, especially Lyra, but after her character was completely destroyed in the latter 2 it ruined any merits the books might otherwise have.

10. I hate it when a book…

Is over when I want to keep reading it
